Last July during the Lunar Eclipse I had an epiphany: The clouds were dense and the darkness of the eclipse enveloped the atmosphere; suddenly, the bright moon began to shine like a perfect diamond and all became clear. I realised that after all this time of reinventing myself as artist educator, and the many activities of the last few years: exhibiting, becoming an art-entrepreneur, curating, educating, writing articles (or trying to), sharing with friends, learning from my peers and working on my well being, are all about being a creative oracle.  I write CreatiBE with a BE, because it is not about doing but about BEING, and as CreatiBE Oracle I aim at empowering people, institutions and communities through the use of art-based and creative based methods.

How does it work?

In Learning and Teaching:  As an artist educator I have realised the importance of creative methods and lateral thinking in processes of learning and change. I have used them for student engagement with environmental behaviour and potential changes in household practices; also, creativity has been the core of the GoGreenPilot’12, of students working with organisations facilitating environmental practices while enhancing career and employability options: we did workshops on using “exquisite corpses” for collaborative research and teambuildings; doll making (coordinated by the Great Ann Rippin) for leadership development and reflection; visual maps for strategic planning and career development; and in general, using aesthetics as a way to communicate, engage, enthuse and empower transformations. More recently we have flipped the idea of using art for education, into considering education as an art, and with the RawTag project (with Carmen Lamberti) we have actually pushed the boundaries of what is education, what is art and how students can engage into creativitiy while developing ethical reflections and enquiries.

In Organisational Development:  Similar exercises has been used in processes of organsational learning: for example, using visual facilitation and graphic facilitation for strategic planning; and more recently, using Design Thinking for a wide range of issues: from specific problem solving to the creation of new services and products, and also, for governance and strategic planning.

In the Creative Parties and StoryTelling An ongoing project whereby art is the vehicle for playing and reflection. Drawing on a plethora of techniques: drawing, calligraphy, printmaking; lettering; collage; story telling, etc, we organise parties and events that provide a playful environment and technical skills to reflect on deeper personal processes. Issues like personal journeys, menopause, career change, love, self-confidence, well-being, spirituality, dreams, etc.
